Over 13,000 American paratroopers were dropped into Normandy on June 6, 1944. Of this total, only a few were to land in their designated drop zones. The men of 'Easy' Company were no exception. THE LOSS OF CPT. MEEHAN AT BEUZEUVILLE AU PLAIN

WINTERS LEADS THE ASSAULT ON BRECOURT MANOR
In the absence of Cpt. Meehan, 2nd Lt. Richard Winters was entrusted with the taking of a German battery that had escaped the keen eye of the Allied reconnaissance. In a remarkable display of bravery, the 26-year old officer with a dozen men under his command would defy an enemy force that was 5-6 times larger in order to take out four howitzers that represented a threat to the American
landings at Utah Beach
ANGOVILLE AU PLAIN AID STATION
Located at the foot of the Cotentin Peninsula, this hamlet was made famous by two medics serving with the 2/501 PIR: Robert Wright and Kenneth Moore. Wright converted the local XI century church into a makeshift aid-station. To this day bloodstained pews remind the visitor of their selfless actions during the first two days of the Normandy campaign as the two paratroopers attended to approximately 80 wounded from both sides.

NORMANDY AMERICAN CEMETERY AND MEMORIAL
Situated on the bluffs overlooking Omaha Beach, Colleville Cemetery is one of fourteen permanent WWII cemeteries created by the US government in the aftermath of the conflict. Officialy known as Normandy American Cemetery & Memorial, it is the final resting place for many a US paratrooper as well as some of the men who were associated one way or another with the story of the 'Band of Brothers'.
