FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is it possible to visit Normandy in a day?
Normandy is one of the 13 administrative regions of mainland France and encompasses approximately 18% of the French territory. That being said, even a few hours is enough to visit some of the most iconic Normandy sights like the D-Day beaches, Mont Saint Michel, Caen or Bayeux.
  • Can we hire your guide but use our rental car to do a tour?
Yes. This type of service is dedicated to customers who are looking to hire a guide and enjoy a personalised experience while travelling in the comfort of a vehicle of their choice (e.g. rental car, van, mini-bus, coach)
  • How about lunch? Can I bring my own and eat in the car?
Lunch may be regarded as part of the experience. All tours spanning 5+ hours include a lunch stop so you will have sufficient time to enjoy a meal in the French countryside. No food or beverages are to be consumed in the van. On the other hand, we do provide our customers with bottled water at no extra cost.
  • How should I dress?
Normandy weather reflects a particular combination of continental and oceanic climate. Often quite impredictible, it is wet and windy most of the time. Therefore, we would strongly advise you to pack some waterproof clothes as well as some robust — but comfortable — footwear (especially when planning on touring the D-Day beaches).
  • I want to do a D-Day tour and stay in the area. Where should I spend the night?
Bayeux is the ideal point of departure for any tour covering the American landing beaches as well as the Anglo-Canadian sectors. Located in the center of the D-Day assault area, this small Norman town can accommodate even the most exigent traveler thanks to its numerous hotels and restaurants.
  • Does your company offer group tours?
If you have your own transport (e.g coach, mini-bus) you can hire our professional English-speaking guide regardless of the size of your group. Otherwise, all of our tours are private and your party may count up to 8 PAX. A price per person does not apply to any of our tours.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
For all cancellation requests made 30+ days before the tour, there is no charge and the customer will receive a full refund. The deposit becomes non-refundable in case the cancellation request is submitted 30 days (or less) prior to the tour.
  • How do I go about booking a tour?
Depending on how far in advance you would like to make reservation, a deposit may be required to book a tour. The balance can be paid either via wire-transfer (7+ days prior to the tour) or in EUR cash (the only method of payment accepted upon tour completion).
  • What time does a tour start?
It depends on the tour formula. For a full-day tour, your guide would come to pick you up at 08:30 a.m; a half-day tour may be done either in the morning (08:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m) or in the afternoon (02:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m); a personalised tour will be tailored to suit your schedule/plans/interests.
  • What type of vehicle are you using for your D-Day tours?
The vehicle is a 9-seater van (Nissan, 2021) which meets all safety and comfort requirements stipulated by the French law.
  • When can I visit Mont Saint Michel?
Mont Saint Michel is accessible 24/7, 365 days a year, thanks to a road built in the XIX century which has been replaced, just recently, by a causeway. The Abbey too is open all-year round (except January 1st, May 1st and December 25th).
  • Is the visit of the Abbey included in your Mont Saint Michel tours?
Yes. Unless you opt for the shuttle service alone, all tours of Mont Saint Michel comprise transport and guide service. Your guide will be by your side each step of the way. However, although the guided tour of the Abbey of Mont Saint Michel is included in the price of the tour the fast-track tickets are not but these may be purchased at http://tickets.monuments-nationaux.fr/.
  • Does the tide hinder access to Mont Saint Michel?
For centuries, the tide was regarded as a serious hindrance indeed but not anymore. Nowadays, there are just a few days a year when the amplitude of the tide reaches 12.85m (approx. 42ft) rendering the Mount only temporarily inaccessible.
  • Is transport included in the cost?
Yes. As long as you have not made any special arrangements, transport as well as guide service are included in the price of the tour. The vehicle is a 9-seater van and your party may count up to 6 PAX.
  • Our cruise ship will be in port for a few hours. Is it possible to book a private tour?
Yes. We do tours from Cherbourg, Honfleur or Le Havre which are conceived as round trips from the cruise terminal. The itinerary depends on the amount of time you are planning to spend sightseeing and the port’s location (e.g. Le Havre is situated 90 miles away from Omaha Beach whereas Cherbourg is only 50 miles away).
  • Is there a way to book a tour and be cost-effective at the same time?
All tours from the cruise ship are private (i.e the price is per tour and not per person). If you are looking to get the best deal in terms of cost, by using the boards at cruisecritic.com you may be able find other cruisers interested in joining you and thus share the cost.
  • Is it possible to visit the D-Day beaches or Mont Saint Michel on a day trip from Paris?
Yes. It is the fastest and the most comfortable way to do a Normandy tour from the capital. Why should you spend over 3,5 hours cramped in a van or stuck in a traffic jam when you could use that difference of an hour (each way) sightseeing! Your guide-driver will meet you at the railway station upon your arrival, take you on a tour of the D-DAY beaches or Mont Saint Michel and then, upon tour completion, drop you off in the same place so you can take a train back to Paris.
  • How can I purchase my train tickets?
If you want to book your seats in advance then we would suggest using the French Railway (SNCF) website https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/ or simply purchase your tickets, on the day, at Saint Lazare Station in Paris.
